dc.description.abstract The presentation is from the National Workshop on Migration and Global Environmental Change in India. A large proportion of internal migration is caused by environmental processes and changes. CIimate change adds another layer of complexity and uncertainty to the interplay of cause and effect dynamics, enhancing adverse impacts on the adaptive capacity of vulnerable people which may result in voluntary or involuntary displacement and migration. River dams in the region indicate that proliferation of hydro projects are likely to exacerbate factors that contribute to internal migration in the Brahmaputra river basin. en
