Abstract
To build sustainable drainage systems, designers need to incorporate future climatic conditions into their computation of design. The most urgent problem for many cities in regard to climate change is the intensification of the hydrological cycle. Extreme weather events may for example, cause surface and basement flooding leading to sewer overflow. The objective of this study is to develop a methodology to account for climate change impacts in the design of urban drainage structures by assessing a small urban catchment in Addis Ababa, and testing two computer modeling programmes, HEC-RAS and SWMM.
