Abstract

The project responded to different circumstances and needs in each of three countries. Partner organizations, Ghana Trades Union Congress, ISCOD in Peru and HomeNet Thailand worked with different groups of informal workers and with lawyers, academics, and worker education specialists in implementing the project. The programmes help build the capacity of informal workers, especially women, to understand the laws and regulations affecting them, to identify gaps, develop demands and strategies for legal change, and to empower them to engage with authorities. Some workers who hold leadership positions lack legal knowledge concerning their sector and concerning trade unions more generally.
