Abstract

This is a practical guide that policy makers, miners and civil society can use to learn about technologies and approaches for reducing and eliminating mercury use in artisanal and smallscale gold mining (ASGM). It provides an overview of mercury use in ASGM in detail, and illustrates solutions that can be implemented to comply with modern environmental standards and best practices in ASGM.
