Abstract
A disproportionate number of truth commissions in recent years have been focused in Africa leading to lengthy debates regarding international prosecution versus local or traditional justice mechanisms. The purpose of the African Transitional Justice Research Network (ATJRN) is to increase the capacity of local level researchers and civil society institutions in African countries engaged in transitional justice processes to conduct effective human rights advocacy through the production of locally-based, quality, targeted empirical research. Among other outputs delineated in this report, through ATJRN African researchers and practitioners have published more than 20 articles.
