Abstract

The project undertakes an analytical review of Postharvest losses (PHL)s in Sub-Saharan Africa. A literature review and full bibliographic compilation of all PHL innovations was completed and migrated to a new database, which includes published as well as unpublished reports of works and studies conducted between 1980 and 2012. Concise summaries of each of the articles are provided as well as links to full articles. The collection reveals evidence and magnitudes of postharvest losses, methodologies used to assess the losses, and innovations that were introduced, proposed or evaluated for reducing the losses.
