Abstract
IDRC partnerships in India have paved the way for the development of the National Integrated Coastal Zone Management Strategy in Tamil Nadu, which has led to the regeneration of degraded mangrove forests and strengthened the coping capacity of coastal communities in the events of cyclone, tsunami and sea level rise. Village Knowledge Centres and Resource Centres are another successful joint project that disseminates locale-specific, demand driven information, and knowledge, and builds the skills of rural communities. The small millets project was another multi-level success. Applied research projects are reviewed in this paper, which describes projects, outcomes, and impacts of partnerships.
