Abstract:
The report provides comprehensive and detailed reviews of all aspects of an integrated programme that reintroduced small millets into food production systems in India through farmer participation and agricultural innovations. The project also reduced women farmers’ drudgery, by improvement of processing mills at the rural level. It created awareness about value addition to regional staple food grains, enhancing food and nutrition security. Empowerment of men and women in production, processing and marketing, increased productivity of little millet based cropping systems, generated results of enhanced nutritional literacy, increased income and whole grain consumption for better health of the community.
