Abstract
Focus group discussions ask people to respond to specific questions; these can be very broad, or narrower and more specific. This “how-to” guide provides information for farm radio programmers towards arranging meetings with farmers and farmer groups. It includes sections on: Preparing for the meeting; Phrasing of focus group questions; Five tips on facilitating focus group discussions, and; a detailed example of how to introduce a session. Of note, “arrange to meet with men and women separately because the farming issues of women are often different than those of men.”
