Abstract

The project worked to build capacity at Universidade Lurio in Mozambique, in community based participatory action research to enhance the community’s ability to deal with health concerns, develop strong ties between the community and Universidade Lurio and to help train future health sciences workers in providing evidence-based care. It resulted in development, trial, and creation of an innovative, interactive workshop curriculum. UniLurio students then developed eight student-run, faculty-supervised, community-based research project protocols. The complete curriculum in both English and Portuguese was presented to Universidade Lurio and will be embedded in the UniLurios community health program.
