Abstract

A group of agricultural practitioners from all over Sudan gathered in the city of Khartoum for a workshop to learn about documentation and communication techniques capable of capturing, analyzing and disseminating their experiences from the field, where knowledge is traditionally passed on orally. The need to overcome limited access to practical and local people’s knowledge in the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) region had been identified, and so ILEIA (Center for Learning on Sustainable Agriculture in the Netherlands) initiated a process of documentation and systematization in several countries, including Sudan, Lebanon, Morocco and Algeria.
