Abstract
Based on trade and cultural exchange, India and Africa have a shared common history, traced over centuries. There has been recent interest by leaders and development scholars to translate the relationship in order to accelerate socioeconomic growth. However, the relationships need to extend beyond trade and investment to include among other things technology transfers and acknowledgement of natural resources exploitation. As well, challenges for the Afro-Indian relationship include that it is still highly state centric and bureaucratic. The papers present multiple perspectives on Indo-African relations.
