Abstract
The National Transfer Accounts (NTA) project is bringing together and analyzing information on private and public consumption at every age. This research covers 37 economies around the world at varying stages of economic development. NTA disaggregates consumption into three components—education, healthcare, and other consumption (private consumption, the goods and services purchased by individuals and families; and public consumption, goods and services provided directly by the government). An important policy concern relates to fairness in the allocation of resources among age groups. Measures of consumption are important for understanding public programs and policies that influence access to resources.
