Abstract
It’s more about development than openness: together the chapters form the beginnings of a constructive critique of development practice and theory. The volume explores the ways that openness can be applied in a variety of domains to achieve a particular development goal, be it reduction of HIV in South Africa, improving educational experiences of marginalized communities, or improving government services while maintaining citizens’ right to privacy. The book focuses on the emergence of open networked models predicated on digital network technologies- the application of these open models and the logic behind openness is called open development.
