Abstract

Expert perspectives in this book show the challenges to building more equitable and inclusive information or knowledge societies in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). There is a growing need for better understanding, not only of access to broadband, but also of citizenship, intellectual property rights, privacy, and online entrepreneurship. The book is a collection of informed reflections and perspectives on new opportunities and challenges for the information society in the LAC region. Chapters build on the seminar “Open Development: Exploring the future of the information society in Latin America and the Caribbean” (2013).
