Sudanese in Cairo, March 2012
Abstract
The presentation covers livelihoods of Sudanese migrants in Cairo, Egypt: 89% reported being engaged in some kind of economic activity mostly in the informal sector; 72% have regular contact with family and friends in Sudan; 32% have contact with both Sudan and other countries outside of Sudan. Focusing on remittances and the Sudanese diaspora, the presentation reports on results of the study “Sudanese in Cairo” (see also http://hdl.handle.net/10625/50873 “Remittances to conflict zones : transition countries; the Sudanese diaspora in Cairo - executive summary”).
