Abstract
Transit countries are way-stations or stopping points in the journey of migrants and refugees from their countries of origin to their intended destination countries. This study explores the significance of transnational linkages, particularly remittances, for Sudanese migrants in Egypt. The summary provides details of project planning, methodology and findings. While most respondents (72%) were in regular contact with family and friends in Sudan and elsewhere, remittance transfers were relatively small and do not play an important part in the livelihoods of Sudanese refugees in Egypt.
