Abstract
In most countries fiscal and social reforms are subject to political swings, which are reflected in the complexities of their tax and benefit systems. The objective of the Fiscal Schemes for Inclusive Development (FSID) project is to build microsimulation models aimed at assessing the impact of fiscal and social policy reforms that are meant to improve tax-benefit systems in Latin America. Workshops in each of the five countries (Brazil, Guatemala, Chile, Mexico and Uruguay) will teach academics and policy-makers how to use the microsimulation tool to generate information about the impact of social and fiscal policy reforms such as income redistribution programs.
