Abstract:
As the UNESO/Commonwealth of Learning (COL) Chair in Open Education Resources (OER), Athabasca University (AU) collaborates on delivering online workshops to hundreds of developing-world participants, to explain OER and train them in uses and integration into curricula. In addition, AU is working with institutions to establish similar Chairs in OER in Brazil, Kenya, South Africa, and India. Virtual platforms and media labs can provide valuable services in developing countries, and AU websites are usable by a wide variety of mobile devices, even those with limited screen space. This workshop report outlines some implications of virtual platforms in knowledge sharing.
