Abstract
This detailed project report reviews a successful programme that strengthened local participatory plant breeding (PPB) and evolutionary breeding programs and increased the awareness of farmers about their rights through a number of workshops. Articles 6 and 9 of agriculture law were thoroughly examined. The goal of the project was the empowerment of resource-poor smallholders by enhancing their knowledge of plant genetic resources and benefit-sharing. It is essential to convince farmers about conservation of local species and the benefits that can be realized from sustainable agriculture. The appendices provide details of environmental law, conservation practices, agro-biodiversity, and recommendations.
