Abstract
At the Earth Summit, IDRC was chosen by the government of Canada to be one of the key Canadian implementing agencies for Agenda 21. It was noted that greater access by the international community to the direct, hands-on expertise of IDRC will help to ensure a quick start to implementation of the UNCED Agenda 21 program. With this in mind, IDRC's mandate was broadened to emphasize the environment and sustainable development.
