Abstract
A foundry unit composed of an 800 kg melt capacity oil fired rotary furnace, foundry accessories and equipment has been installed and commissioned. The unit, which took five years to establish, is geared towards assisting the local industry in capacity utilization and is to be operated as a self sustaining and income generating centre within the University of Nairobi's Department of Mechanical Engineering. It will be managed by a self regulating team, under an overall in-charge team Leader and a Coordinator in-charge of its day to day operation.
