Abstract

The presentation reviews state participation in Turkey’s economy and the perception of corruption, which is seen as widespread in licensing, customs, and taxation. Hence, the presentation focuses on public procurement as a place to begin attempts at increasing transparency. As a major interface between public (politicians/civil servants) and private sectors (business people) there is a requirement for, and expectation of accountability.
