Technological Opportunities In Nr Based Industries
Abstract
This 300-page detailed presentation explains why natural resources (NR)-based and related industries are typically considered less dynamic, and thus have low potential to contribute to a process of development. It then challenges this view by exploring technological opportunities in NR-based industries in Brazil. The in-depth presentation includes an econometrics analysis. The proportion of the purchases/sales made by any industry coming/directed from/to NRs are compared across sectors. Innovative behaviour, growth, and performance are measured. A related analysis uncovers some differences in processes between Chile, Finland and Germany.
