Abstract
This report uses the elections to the Women’s Congress of the Women’s Federation of Qianxi County, as a case study useful to other marginalized groups’ involvement in politics. Elections were supposed to have been held every three years; however, in reality candidates were appointed rather than elected. The report introduces and analyzes the organisation’s efforts and successes in promoting direct elections, with effective participation and advancement of women in politics. Direct elections provided a new approach towards marginalised groups and created many practical systems, such as methods to obtain recognition from other organisations and in seeking financial support.
