Abstract

In recent years, poultry diseases control plays a more and more important role on people's health and the quality of life, and it is an important constituent of public safety and security of most countries. As the development of economic globalization, industrialization and urbanization, and the strategy adjustment of agriculture economy, poultry diseases control has become a big problem. It is not only affecting the health of people of the country, but also affecting the international competitive of agriculture economy of the country and income of the farmers. It has already become the focus of the whole society. The research of how farmers’ behavior affects diseases control is of great importance. This paper studies what influences the farmers’ behavior of poultry diseases control under certain technology, raising scale and the constraints of market and government, using examples from Changzhi, Shangxi Province. The study interviewed the farmers, collected poultry rearing data of the last few years from almost 105 farmers, and asked farmers about their understanding of diseases controlling and the marketing problem. Logit models were used to do quantitative study, and give a system descriptive of overall diseases controlling. Through the research, we come to such conclusions: 1) Diseases controlling involves many aspects. Government should take measures on rearing environment, medicine, laws, quality standard, safe poultry certificate and information services. 2) the number of poultry reared have a direct impact on the health of the extent of farming. The larger size of the flock farmers have, the healthier the poultry are, and the safer is the rearing behavior; 3) the higher share of poultry income, the more farmers tend to adopt the diseases control measures; 4) After understanding the factors affecting diseases control measures adoption, and learning the experience from foreign countries, some suggestions are provided, including training of healthy rearing practice, encouraging poultry larger scale, rearing improvement of information system of poultry disease control.
