Abstract:
The presentation shows a breakdown analysis of land use patterns in two sites in Burundi comprising 45 households. Findings reveal rural poverty and food insecurity is related to lack of intensification capacity: no fertilizers or manure; no tools and equipment. The presentation advocates for better land use and agricultural policy. There is an abundance of labour, enough land, and positive social ties. Resource allocation towards subsidizing improved farmer efficiency and land use practices would produce immense benefits.
