Abstract
It remains critical that in a democratic society, legal information is made accessible not only to the state and its lawmakers, but also to the governed; equal access to legislation which regulates rights and obligations allows people to protect themselves from potential abuse from the state and other citizens. In Indonesia, Free Access to the Law (FAL) legal providers come and go, and establishing long-term funding sources and operational strategies prove to be the biggest challenge. This study examines the relationship between the success of a FAL initiative, and the structural conditions which aid, or impede sustainability in the long term.
