Abstract

The results of the first phase of research demonstrated that in local peripheries in Latin America, the appropriation of technology has generated vigorous cultural industries. On the other hand, the full development of these cultural industries still faces many challenges. In this second phase of the project, the research expanded to include Colombia and Argentina. The challenge is to devise ways for open business models to become integrated into the “formal” economy without being disrupted or losing the flexibilities that make them successful. The final report details activities, outputs, outcomes and dissemination of research.
