Abstract

Through the case studies presented in this book, the authors contend that 20 years of warfare in Cambodia have badly damaged but not destroyed, the structure and elements of social capital. Social capital remains a relevant analytical framework for understanding the meaning of community in the specific cultural and social contexts of Cambodia. It can inform development interventions and policies aimed at sustainable management of natural resources, such as Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM).
