Abstract

This issue (no. 4) focuses on climate change and African forests. Many countries do not have adequate financial and institutional resources to undertake a reliable inventory of their forest resources on a regular basis. Relatively minor changes in climate can increase forests’ vulnerability to droughts, insects and fires. Under the global warming scenarios, insect and pathogen outbreaks will likely increase in severity. The newsletter also reflects on challenges for climate change adaptation planning in Ethiopia and provides updates to member events and activities. MECCA also points to its e-forum, where members can discuss current themes.

Description
