Abstract
The newsletter focuses on issues pertaining to the monitoring and evaluation of climate change adaptation undertaken in Africa. This first issue describes the scope of MECCA, an electronic newsletter derived from the project ‘An Experimental Approach to Capacity and Toolkit Development for monitoring and Evaluation within Climate Change Adaptation Initiatives.’ It aims to create a platform that will assist regional and sub‐regional organisations to experiment on approaches for monitoring initiatives in adaptation to climate change. It provides updates on past and current activities, member profiles, and information on current adaptation initiatives.

MECCA Africa is an electronic newsletter of the DFID/IDRC funded project ‘An Experimental Approach to Capacity and Toolkit Development for monitoring and Evaluation within Climate Change Adaptation Initiatives’ implemented jointly by UNECA, OSS, AGRYHMET, and IUCN.
