Abstract
The report summarizes and provides highlights of results of the 34 research projects funded through the program, as well as other outputs. The LACREG Phase V program played an important role in advancing multiple dimensions of Canada-LAC academic relationships beyond just research collaborations, such as influencing environmental policies and the design of new projects and programmes in partnership with country ministries and universities. Practical recommendations are made regarding research methodologies and project design, for instance: reside closer to the fieldwork site, remember the complex constraints of language and interpretation; over-estimate rather than under-estimate required time frames.
