Abstract
This report summarizes discussions and agreements at the workshop, where a work plan for the project was agreed upon, and milestones clearly stated. Presentations were made by country teams (Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, and Tanzania), briefly describing climatic patterns of the country; impact of climate variability on agriculture; current and projected trends in climate variability and change; and policy initiatives. A consensus on research approaches and methodologies to be used was arrived at; data requirements were defined; and criteria for selecting the pilot research sites in the four participating countries were agreed upon. Team members also formulated a communication plan.
