Abstract

Innovation capacity derives from the confluence of social, political, institutional, and culturally specific factors and from the environment in which economic agents operate. Different development trajectories contribute to shape systems of innovation with quite diverse characteristics requiring specific policy support. The BRICS Project is a comparison between the National Innovation Systems of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. This report provides a detailed comparison of the national character of innovation systems in BRICS countries.
