Abstract
Members of scientific, public sector, development, intergovernmental and civil society organizations assembled to inform the design and implementation of the African Climate Change Fellowship Program (ACCFP), intended to build capacity for advancing knowledge for climate change adaptation. Detailed discussions yielded numerous recommendations, and actions taken to implement the recommendations are presented in this summary. Participants highlighted the potential for the fellowship program to link participating institutions in a network for adaptation knowledge sharing. A proactive approach to screening, targeting, and matching Fellows with Host Institutions could greatly increase the value of the fellowship experiences.
