Abstract
From the conference on Asian direct investment, this brief presentation comments on a paper that examines foreign direct investment (FDI) experiences of Singapore and Thailand and the drivers of overseas expansion. Shenzen is a major sub-provincial city and a “special economic zone” of China. Singapore companies have ventured out of Shenzen, but have had a difficult time, as Chinese business culture has proved very different.
