Abstract

Five of the seven countries which account for 65% of the world’s undernourished population are located within the Asia region. The vulnerability of the poor is further enhanced by rapid degradation of environmental resources and biodiversity. Disaster management has shifted focus from relief and rehabilitation to include preparedness and climate risk reduction. The conference provided an interdisciplinary platform to researchers, practitioners, and policy makers working within the domains of environmental management, development and disaster risk reduction to develop a shared vision of livelihood resilience in changing climate. Reviews of conference topics and presentations are provided.
