Abstract
The projects examine longitudinal studies for trends in fertility, mortality, and patterns of disease burdens over time, in order to document the health and demographic transitions and determine their nature and the patterns occurring in the study countries: Ghana, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Vietnam. Findings are presented mainly in the form of graphs: results of the cause of death data suggest that while infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, etc continue to persist, noncommunicable diseases are assuming higher proportions.
