Abstract:
The presentation provides information on land reform in Madagascar in terms of women’s land rights. It discusses the land women have access to through customary practice, how reliable this access is, and the rights women have in terms of family land they contribute to with their labour, yet have no control over. Obtaining land certificates is time consuming, expensive and confusing (between titling and certification processes). An illustration shows women’s access and control over land according to landscape position.
