Abstract
Despite progress, the largest percentage of the world’s population suffering from malnutrition remains in sub-Saharan Africa; that is, 239 million people or 30% of the population. According to the committee of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) food security, fundamental challenges to relieve African food crises relate to land tenure security and international investment. The overall objective of this pan-African programme of research is to make available quality, reliable and accessible information systems through the application of the P-GIS approach to improve natural resource management (water, land and forest in particular) and promote food security.
