Abstract

Eco-Plata is an inter-institutional advisory body that provides support for and promotes integrated coastal management. This publication presents the main characteristics and sensitivities of the Rio de la Plata Uruguayan coastal zone. It provides comparative analysis from numerous contributors, indicating gradual progress in the generation of a more integrated approach to the development of usage and conservation policies for the coastal zone. Civil society participation and academic progress have driven territorial management to address the complexity of the coastal space.
