Abstract
Research points to the widespread use of sexual violence by the Guatemalan state as a weapon of war. The National Reparations Program (PNR) was approved by the Guatemalan government in 2003 with sexual violence included in a list of the crimes meriting reparation. The objective of this project is to contribute to knowledge of the gendered nature of reparations programs and implementation. In analyzing the state-sponsored PNR, it also examines the extent to which it contributes to reparation, including whether it may prove to be an obstacle to women survivors’ broader struggles for justice.
