Abstract
This report covers interviews and surveys conducted during the project. Aidha is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘that to which we aspire’. The group provides financial literacy programmes such as money management, computer literacy, leadership and entrepreneurial skills for foreign domestic workers and lower-income women; impact studies show that by educating one woman, aidha can help impact nine lives. Financial education received early in the migration process proved significant. Especially important within the service delivery framework should be training on the use of savings for investment in productive assets.
Quips from interview participants that their savings disappeared within weeks of their return are not surprising.
