Abstract

The project KSIDS adopted as basic methodology the engagement of the main actors / agents in the research activities. Following the workshop held in Mindelo, Cape Verde, in June, the MARAPA organized an event in the same way to present the team and the project objectives and engage key stakeholders in Sao Tome. The main objectives of the event were the presentation of objectives, expected results and methodological approach. Also, it was an opportunity for the participants to contribute their concerns, expectations, advice and expertise to the project's success. During the discussion participants stressed the need for community involvement, lamenting the low participation of civil society and particularly the government. They also concluded that the project's success was contingent upon the political will of both central government and central government. Group discussions highlighted the overall perception of drought, temperature rising and coastal erosion caused by more frequent storms as the main climate changes recorded in recent years.
