Abstract
The paper reports the results of two surveys in Costa Rica, one for researchers in universities and public research institutes and one for firms. Some results indicate that the key channels through which university research impacts industrial research and development (R&D) include published papers and reports, public conferences and meetings, informal information exchange, and consulting. The main mechanisms of R&D are through information and training. Findings show that most R&D in Costa Rica is performed by universities.
