Abstract
IDRC, through the MIT Development Ventures initiative, makes available a limited number of Action Grants for promising MIT-related project teams pursuing viable development ventures. The Assured Labour Project is creating a marketplace for recruiting mid-to-low wage workers in emerging markets. The service, comparable to Monster.com, leverages mobility to reach workers that are connected by mobile phones but not consistently on the internet. Assured Labor offers companies a platform to shorten recruitment processes; filling positions sooner enhances companies’ productivity and grants workers additional opportunities to earn income.
