Abstract
The Think Tank Initiative allows research institutions to build their own capacities. Strengthening organizational capacity is a long-term endeavour. This report covers the first two years of the program, from its conception to the beginning of its implementation. It has provided long-term general support grants (“core funding”) and access to training and technical assistance to 52 policy research organizations in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Latin America. During its first two years, it focused on developing a fully-operational program and beginning to produce and share knowledge on this capacity building model for strengthening local research.
