Abstract

Since its creation five years ago, the Regional Dialogue on the Information Society (DIRSI) has focused on studying the gaps between those who have access to networks and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and those in the digital divide. This newsletter reviews the work of DIRSI, including studies on “digital poverty” in Central America and the Caribbean; broadband access and network infrastructure; and analysis of the regulatory environment. It also includes a bibliography of research outputs by DIRSI Fellows. DIRSI is building research capacity through research fellowships and an intern program. (Parallel text in English and Spanish).
