Abstract
Advanced network infrastructure and access to adequate bandwidth are critical for higher education and research. The paper takes a detailed look at the state of connectivity in higher education and research institutions (HEI) in West and Central Africa; it complements the African Tertiary Institutions Connectivity Survey (ATICS). To merge the available data towards a continental view of the connectivity of African HEIs, an online database has been developed. It is clear from the findings of this study that there is a bandwidth deficit in HEIs in the West and Central Africa region.
